4×4 Sahara Desert Tour – Marrakech to Erg Chigaga
Day 1 : Marrakech → Zagora
Departure at 08:00 AM from your accommodation in Marrakech. We cross the High Atlas via the famous Tizi n’Tichka pass, the highest road in Morocco, offering incredible panoramas of Berber villages.
After a drive through the Ounila Valley and a visit to the Telouet Kasbah, we reach Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Enjoy a traditional lunch on-site and explore this iconic earthen fortress. We will then pass through Ouarzazate (the Moroccan Hollywood) before crossing the Anti-Atlas Mountains. The day ends in the Draa Valley, nestled between palm groves and Kasbahs, as we arrive in Zagora. Overnight stay in a charming guest house (dinner and breakfast included).

Day 2 : Zagora → Erg Chegaga
After breakfast, we head towards the Amzerou Kasbah (the former Jewish quarter of Zagora) and then to Tamegroute. Discover its famous Koranic school, the ancient manuscript library, the underground Kasbah, and the unique green pottery workshops.
After lunch in M’hamid, the real adventure begins: 2 hours of off-road 4×4 driving across rocky plateaus and dry riverbeds (oueds) to reach the majestic dunes of Erg Chigaga—the highest and wildest in Morocco. At sunset, enjoy a camel trek through the golden sands. Your night will be spent in a traditional desert camp: dinner under the stars, campfire, and Berber music.

Day 3 : Erg Chegaga
Wake up early to witness the sunrise over the dunes—a pure moment of magic. After breakfast, enjoy a 2-hour camel trek to truly feel the vastness and the profound silence of the desert.
For lunch, experience a “nomadic” picnic prepared by your guide in the shade of a Tamaris tree. The afternoon is yours to relax or explore the dunes at your own pace before another unforgettable evening gathered around the campfire.

Sunrise Over the Dunes: A breathtaking wake-up call in the heart of the Sahara.
Extended Camel Trek: A peaceful 2-hour journey to embrace the vastness and silence of the desert.

Day 4: Erg Chegaga → Marrakech
We leave the dunes behind and head towards Foum Zguid by 4×4. On the way, we stop at the surreal Lake Iriqui, a vast dried-up lake, and discover ancient fossil fields dating back millions of years.
We will drive alongside the Jebel Bani mountains before arriving in Taznakht, world-famous for its Berber carpets, where we will visit a women’s weaving cooperative. Our journey continues across the Atlas Mountains, arriving back in Marrakech around 06:00 PM.
